About lot matrix items

This topic describes best practices for lot matrix items.

Lot matrix items are items that are packaged in different quantities and have different prices based on the quantity purchased, e.g., a can of soda that may be sold individually, or in 6-pack, 12-pack, or 24-pack quantities.

Lot matrix items typically use the same lookup code or UPC code. When a cashier or salesperson enters the lookup code or UPC code of a lot matrix item in POS, they are prompted to select the packaged quantity that the customer is purchasing from the Lot Matrix Selection screen.

When you create a lot matrix item in RMH, you can add the different packaged quantities by either selecting an existing item from the store database, or creating a new item using the New Item Wizard.
